Smokey is Citizens Band (CB) slang for the Police – represented here by Sheriff Buford T. Justice, who is played by Jackie Gleason. The Bandit's partner in crime is Cledus 'The Snowman' Snow, played by the country singer and part–time actor, Jerry Reed.
Sally Field also stars as Carrie, a runaway bride who invites herself along for the trip.
